We’ve long admired the work of British artist Georgie Hopton, so we’re very happy to welcome Produce, a collection of 29 of her wallpapers and fabrics, to CommonRoom.

Georgie’s work moves freely between fine art, textiles, pattern and the domestic interior - an approach that feels very close to our own belief that fine art belongs in the home. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement and the Wiener Werkstätte, her practice is underpinned by the idea that a painting, a textile, a curtain or a border can all be part of the same creative world.

Nature sits at the heart of Georgie’s work - not simply as inspiration, but as material, tool and teacher. For many years, she spent summers at her farm in upstate New York, growing and working directly with plants and produce. This relationship with the natural world runs through her painting, printmaking, collage and textiles, in a practice that shifts between figuration, abstraction and pattern.

Georgie’s wallpapers and fabrics are a natural extension of this. Their botanical forms and bold pattern and colour make their way from artwork to interior, with the designs retaining the character and hand of the processes that underpin them.

Originally developed by Georgie with her gallery Lyndsey Ingram, Produce now begins a new chapter with us. We’re excited to be giving these designs a new home at CommonRoom, introducing them into our collection imminently alongside the work of other great artists past and present.
